Professional Journey
Growing up, I was always passionate about pursuing a degree in psychology, largely due to my active involvement in community work during high school. After completing my undergraduate studies in Psychology in Kerala, India, I chose to pursue a master’s degree in Holistic Psychological Counseling in Bangalore, India. My master’s education strengthened my passion for integrating holistic approaches into mental health and wellness and deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection.
Upon completing my master’s degree, I worked at a de-addiction center as well as in inpatient and outpatient mental health clinics in Kerala, India. Additionally, I had the opportunity to teach undergraduate nursing students, which allowed me to mentor future healthcare professionals. My passion for travel, openness to new experiences, and deep interest in psychology inspired me to pursue a doctoral degree in the United States. In 2006, I enrolled in a Psy.D. program at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. I completed my doctoral studies and internship in APA-accredited programs, gaining invaluable clinical experience in community mental health and university counseling centers. After completing my postdoctoral hours in 2013, I became a licensed psychologist in Michigan, dedicating my career to supporting individuals on their mental health and wellness journeys.
Life Beyond Work
Beyond my professional work, my personal experiences have played a significant role in shaping who I am today. Growing up in different cultures and interacting with diverse communities has helped me appreciate how values, cultural backgrounds, and various identities shape individuals’ unique experiences. I value openness to new experiences and enjoy immersing myself in different cultures. This not only enriches my personal growth but also enhances the way I approach therapy.
One of my greatest passions is traveling. It gives me the chance to explore new places, meet people from various backgrounds, and enjoy exploring cuisines. I also enjoy playing sports like pickleball, badminton, table tennis, and racquetball. My passion for pickleball has been especially strong over the past several years, and it has become a major part of my active lifestyle. Spending quality time with my friends and family is something I hold dear, and I strongly believe in the importance of giving back to the community. These experiences continue to inspire me and strengthen my commitment to fostering connection, growth, and well-being, both in my personal and professional life.
